Celebrating Diversity

- The four cornerstones of diversity
- The STOP technique
- Understanding and identifying stereotypes
- Using politically correct language
- Managing for diversity
Upon completion of this course participants will understand what diversity means; they will have learned how diversity has changed, and is still changing, the world. Participants will able to deal with, and even prevent, discrimination; they will have learned and be capable of applying “Managing for Diversity”, the management style that encourages and gets the utmost benefit from diversity. They will have learned how to “Celebrate Diversity”.
Workplace Ethics and You
Standard course duration: 2-4 hours
A major problem with ethics in the workplace is that what may seem perfectly ethical to one person will be totally unethical to someone else. Another problem is that there is no easy way to solve every ethical difference concerning the appropriate decisions to make or the appropriate ethical path to follow. This course provides the means by which participants can address these problems. It will help them define their own ethical framework and teach them tools and techniques to make solving ethical problems easier. The course looks at a large variety of case studies participants will use to practice making ethical decisions in a safe environment.
This course covers the following major topics:
- The definition of ethics, values and morals
- Identification of participants’ own values
- Basic philosophical approaches
- Ethical decision-making tools and techniques
- Resolve or avoid ethical dilemmas with co-workers, supervisors, clients and company policy
- Recovering from an ethical mistake
Upon completion of this course participants will understand the value of ethics; they will able to recognize their own values and moral principles. Participants will have the tools to be able to make better decisions to avoid ethical dilemmas; they will have learned to identify ways to improve ethics in the Company’s workplace and how to start developing a workplace code of ethics.
Workplace Harassment
Standard course duration: 2-4 hours
This course covers the following major topics:
- Types of harassment
- The benefits of harassment training
- Preventing harassment
- Protecting yourself from harassment
- Confronting the harasser
- The four-stage complaint resolution process
- False complaints
Upon completion of this course participants will understand what behavior is and is not appropriate in the workplace, and why; they will be able to help create and implement a corporate harassment policy. Participants will have the tools to be able to protect themselves from harassment incidents and complaints; they will understand the four-stage complaint resolution process.
Workplace Violence
Standard course duration: 2-4 hours
This course covers the following major topics:
- Warning signs of violence
- The seven step anger management process
- Communication skills
- Stress management techniques
- The nine components of a violence prevention program
- The fourteen stages of threat response
- Developing a risk assessment program
Upon completion of this course participants will understand what workplace violence is; they will be able to identify some warning signs of violence. Participants will have the tools to be able to manage their own anger; they will know what to do if a violent incident occurs in the workplace, on both an individual and organizational level.
Self-Care and Preventing Burnout
Standard course duration: 2-4 hours
The topics covered in either presentation or participative exercises include:
- Left brain-right brain balance
- Thinking out of the box
- Self awareness
- Positive affirmation
- Staying ahead
- My motivators
- Commitment to the organization
- My role in the organization
- Negotiation skills
- Dealing with emotions
- Managing conflict
Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the potential and symptoms of burnout and will be able to take proactive means to prevent it. They will be able to step back, see the larger picture, and mentally reenergize themselves using the specifics of their roles, responsibilities and capabilities. They will also be able to better manage and depressurize potentially stressful situations that can contribute to burnout.
